Invisalign Orthodontics

When you look good, it shows in your demeanor, your voice, and even the way you act. That’s because you feel more confident when you know you look good. However, the opposite is true as well. If you are worried about how you look, you’ll be less confident. People will probably notice that.

That’s why we offer a variety of cosmetic dentistry treatments at our White Rock/South Surrey, BC dental office. One of the more popular options is Invisalign. These will straighten your smile, help you look great, and help you feel more confident. All of this can happen virtually invisibly.

Straighten Teeth With “Invisible Braces”

Normally, braces are very visible. Metal brackets are cemented to the front of your teeth, and metal wires connect the brackets, which force your teeth into a new position. It’s hard to hide all of that metal and wire, so while metal braces work, they’re not exactly attractive to look at.

That’s where Invisalign comes in. These are clear plastic aligners similar to mouthguards. You wear them over your teeth. Every two weeks, you change into a new aligner. Each one is slightly different than the one before. They guide your teeth to where they need to be, just like metal braces. Since Invisalign is made from clear plastic, they are almost invisible when worn — that’s why they’re often called “invisible braces.” In addition, Invisalign can be easily removed when it’s time to eat. Food won’t get stuck in your teeth, and there are no restrictions on what you can eat.

At our White Rock/South Surrey dental office, Dr. Rogers is a certified Invisalign provider. That means he has the special training necessary to straighten your smile and help it look its best.

Invisalign Different From Metal Braces

Invisalign works through the shape of the clear aligners, which exert a gentle pressure to move teeth. To begin with, you get accurate measurements of your teeth and mouth taken at our White Rock/South Surrey, BC dental office. These are used to create your aligners custom for you. Each one is molded a bit differently. Your first aligner is shaped to guide your teeth a little closer to where they should be. The next aligner you wear takes off where the earlier one left your teeth, and so on.

Invisalign can also be healthier for you. With metal braces, food can easily get stuck in them. This can increase your risk of tooth decay. With Invisalign clear aligners, you take them out when eating and to clean them more easily.

Metal braces are still useful if you have a significant bite issue or many teeth that are very crooked or misaligned. For example, patients with severe overbites might be better off with traditional braces. But for almost all patients, Invisalign will work very well to move teeth for a straight, even smile.

Invisalign Means Quicker Results

One of the many problems with traditional metal braces is the treatment length. Usually, it can take two to three years before metal braces finally get your teeth straight. That means years of doing extra cleaning, getting wires tightened, and lots of trips to the dentist’s office. Invisalign is a modern orthodontic treatment, so it is both efficient and relatively fast. With many patients, Invisalign is completed in as little as nine months. That means you have fewer visits, less hassle, and an even smile in much less time.
