General Dentistry

There are times when your family needs specific dental treatments. Most of the time, however, your family needs general dentistry treatment like dental cleanings and dental exams, gum disease treatment, and more.

Dr. Rogers on Treating Patients in His Office

White Rock Dental Clinic Experience

Your appointment will be customized to a certain degree. That’s so we can deliver individualized service to you and your family. However, most appointments follow the same structure. After you check in at the desk, you’ll need to complete any missing paperwork. (If you’re a new patient to our White Rock/South Surrey dental office, you can download the new patient forms and complete them at home.) Then you’ll be taken back to an operatory, where one of our dental hygienists will expertly clean your teeth. Typically, your appointment will include digital X-rays.

Once finished, Dr. Rogers will conduct a thorough dental exam. You can schedule just an exam if you think you might have a specific problem such as gum disease or cavities. Finally, Dr. Rogers will explain all of the results. The two of you will create a plan to fix any problems.

Six Month Dental Cleanings And Exams

Brushing and flossing at home is incredibly important. Without both, it’s almost guaranteed that you’ll develop problems such as tooth decay or gum disease. However, your home regimen is not enough to keep your teeth and gums clean. Only dental hygienists or dentists, like those in Dr. Rogers’ office, have the specialized training and tools needed to get rid of plaque, tartar, and more.

That’s only for dental cleaning. Dental exams are very important as well. The sooner we can catch problems like cavities and gum disease, the easier (and less expensive) the treatments will be to correct those problems.

Dry Mouth Solutions

Everyone has times when their mouth goes dry, such as when you’re nervous or sick. That’s not comfortable, but it’s also not a problem. However, some people suffer from chronic dry mouth. This can be caused by using tobacco, side effects from medicine, and stress. This chronic condition is a problem because saliva helps wash away tiny particles of food or drink that get trapped in your mouth. A dry mouth can give harmful bacteria more to feed on, increasing your risk of gum disease and tooth decay. We can recommend different ways to help if dry mouth is a problem for you.

Early Signs of Gum Disease

The early stage of gum disease is called gingivitis. This occurs when harmful bacteria multiply and live on the surface of your gums. They secrete an acid, which irritates and damages gum tissue. If you have gingivitis, you probably have chronic bad breath as well as gums that are sore, red, or bleed easily. These symptoms can also appear if you have developed more advanced gum disease. If you brush and floss too aggressively, your gums can bleed a little bit. But if they normally bleed, you need to come into our White Rock/South Surrey dental office.

Dr. Rogers can use a deep cleaning treatment called scaling and root planing to help get rid of that bacteria. Ready to help keep your teeth and gums healthy and clean? Call us today at 604-536-7606 ext 1 or use our convenient online form for your next appointment for general dentistry. New patients can always receive a free initial consultation. The free consultation is your chance to meet with Dr. Rogers and his team for a brief visual exam and evaluation. This initial visit will not include X-rays, diagnostic tests, or a teeth cleaning, but we can take care of those things at your next appointment.
